Photos of your child
We ask your written permission before we share any photo of your child, on this site, in newsletters or on social media, and you can change your answer at any time. We never put a child's name with a photo, and the photos on this site are examples until we replace them with our own.
Watching class and recitals
A grown-up of each dancer aged 4 to 6 waits in the family room, which has a window onto the small studio. The sixth week of every session is a watch week, when families sit along the studio wall and watch the class. The recital seating is open, and the first two rows are kept for the families of the youngest dancers.
What to wear and bring
Dancers aged 4 to 6 come in clothes that move well and socks or practice shoes. For regional dance, wear a wide practice skirt or comfortable pants; for footwork, practice shoes or heeled shoes when the teacher says so. Hair is pulled back, and jewelry stays at home. Adapted costumes are chosen by each dancer with the teacher, whatever is comfortable.
When to keep your child home
Please keep your dancer home when they are unwell, and until they have been well for a full day. Message us on WhatsApp or call, and we will tell you how a missed class can be made up.
Drop-off and pickup
A grown-up brings and collects every dancer aged 4 to 6, and the teacher hands each child to the person who came with them. For older dancers the door opens ten minutes before class, and we ask you to tell us who is collecting. We ask for identification from anyone we haven't met, and we will wait with a dancer until their grown-up arrives.
Absences and late arrival
Message us on WhatsApp or call when your dancer will miss a class. A dancer who arrives after the warm-up joins quietly, and if class is well under way we will ask you to come back the following week.
Closures for weather and holidays
We close the week of Thanksgiving, for the winter holidays and for one week in spring. If there is a strong storm or an extreme-heat alert, we message every family on WhatsApp that morning, and the class is made up later in the session.
Screens and phones
Dancers keep phones in their bags during class. We don't photograph or film class, apart from watch weeks, when you are welcome to film your own dancer from the wall. Please keep other children out of your shots.
